It is not a fabric, but it is produced with the felting of the fibers. The material that composes it commonly is the carded wool of sheep, but any other type of hair can be used such as that of hare, rabbit, beaver, otter, goat and camel. The fibers are wet with hot water, soaked in soap and manipulated (beaten, rubbed, pressed) until they get felted with mechanical and chemical processes.
